BGC Deems Safer Gambling Week ASuccess

The Safer Gambling Week went down between October 17 and 23 and was a success, according to the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC). The trade body said the Safer Gambling Week was displayed more than 25 million times across various social media channels. BGC is known for its staunch support for responsible gambling and the Safer Gambling Week initiative. The council welcomed the opportunity to boost the product's visibility in the UK, which was the event's focus. BGC also reported a 21% increase in messaging and a positive upward trend in traffic to the Safer Gambling Week website. The site offers educational resources about the event and responsible gambling.

Lawmakers Back Safer Gambling Week

The Safer Gambling Week received backing from lawmakers, including Alex Davies-Jones, Shadow Gambling Minister. Other prominent figures include Harry Redknapp and John Hartson, who joined BGC in raising awareness for the event. Safer Gambling Week is designed to start a conversation at all levels, including with family, friends, and customers. The goal is to promote responsible gambling and make tools easily accessible. Businesses and other stakeholders joined the outreach and promoted the Safer Gambling Week advertisement on their official websites, social media, and other communications channels. According to BGC, the efforts to combat problem gambling are paying off. The rate of problem gamblers dropped to 0.2% from 0.4% a year ago.

Tackling Illegal Gambling Websites

Like most regulators offshore, the UKGC is committed to tackling illegal and harmful gambling operations and practices. BGC CEO Michael Dugher commented on Safer Gambling Week, pointing out that the event had demonstrated the effectiveness of solutions like deposit limits and time-outs. The chief executive added that about 4.5 million of the 22.5 million who gamble every month already use responsible gambling tools. The industry has also shown determination to protect consumers. Meanwhile, groups like Kindred and Epic Risk Management have expressed their commitment to tacking the revenue generated from harmful gambling sources.
