Boyd Gaming has received the approval to build the new Jokers Wild Casino. The company will move forward with constructing the Henderson casinoon Boulder Highway in Nevada. The approval came on Tuesday after the council voted 4-1 to give Boyd the green light. Boyd, a gaming company based in Las Vegas, is tasked with rebuilding the casino as part of Henderson’s Reimagine Boulder Highway project. The company informed Henderson regulators that the project could move forward in two phases. The first step would be to build the new Jokers Wild Casinonorth of the current venue and demolish the existing building within two years.
Once phase one of construction is completed, phase two will see the construction of a new hotel on the site of the old demolished venue. The site will also feature a swimming pool, conference facility, and new casino expansions. Jokers Wild was opened in 1990 as Cattle Baron Casino and reopened three years later under the current name. After nearly three decades, the casino is due massive restructuring to evolve the experiences, and Boyd is the perfect company to achieve this. The company runs 28 well-known gaming venues across ten different states, including 11 in Las Vegas. It remains the dominant operator in downtown Las Vegas.
The casino landscape is rapidly changing to attract more visitors from Las Vegas. Apart from the proposed Jokers Wild Casino overhaul, the suburb is poised to see more demolitions and rebuilding of older venues. Red Rock Resorts recently unveiled its plans to bring down three casinos impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The three casinos, which include Fiesta Henderson, have never reopened since the early days of the global pandemic. Penn Entertainment also announced their allocation of $206 million towards expanding the size of M Resort. All eyes are on the Jokers Wild Casino outlook, especially Phase II, which may be tied to Henderson’s Reimagine Boulder Highway project.
